Default Bye Bye Frenchie

I know he wasn't producing at the plate, but he was a great ambassador for the Braves. He will be missed.

The best they could do was Ryan Church? I know Francoeur was not really hitting, but he is only 25. Ryan Church is oft injured and 31.

I regret seeing him leave atlanta. he seemed like a very personable guy with a lot of potential.

I can only assume he was too determined to bring himself out of a slump on his own terms, instead of working more w/ pendleton, or he'd still be here.

I think cox and pendleton became upset when he headed off to texas, if i'm not mistaken, to work with another hitting coach.

It was a nice story though; hometown guy making it to the majors w/ the local team. I never got to play against him in HS, but all of us in the state knew who he was. He's a special talent; just needs to get his game back together.

My reaction was actually the opposite. This is a player who most fans were needed to be released or sent down and if Church can't do it Diaz has been playing good. He may only be 25 but he was given plenty of opportunities and continued to struggle and complain when he was taken out of the lineup. Of course we had to send cash to NY as well. As for the local connection you still have the 4 time all star McCann

As a Mets fan I hope that Franceur once again starts to resemble the player I thought he was on his way to being during h is first couple of seasons in the bigs. I was still living in Jersey at the time but used to ask a braves fan I knew from the boxing/mma website I frequent where they found that guy after he used to compliment me on the Mets having David Wright come along. Because I thought Franceur was on the same type of track.

I still can't believe the Mets made this deal (thanks I guess). Omar Minaya likes him because he stays healthy (but is regressing in all areas and has no plate discipline). Ryan Church actually performs well away from Citi Field so that should be a plus for us and Francoeur is just useless. The Braves have given this kid (Francoeur) chance after chance and he had the nerve to lash out at ATL when he sucked and ATL sent him down; Jeff really doesn't have great baseball IQ. Atlanta's fanbase isn't as fiery as New York and he couldn't even handle ATL criticism so Jeff may become suicidal up in Queens (not really but you get the point). To me, Jeff Francoeur epitomizes the Mets organization perfectly, tons of upside but just can't figure it out and is hoplessly lost but will not admit its flaws when it's plain for all to see. Of course I hope he doesn't turn into a Brave Killer but I doubt it, they don't call him Failcoeur for nothing. Jeff's a consummate Met, LOL.

Francoeur may have been a local guy and fan favorite, but he's a minor league quality player on a struggling major league team. The Braves need bats. It's pretty sad when your cleanup hitter and lone All Star (McCann) only has 8 HR and 35 RBI at the All Star break.

The Braves are in need of a huge shakeup and getting rid of Francoeur was a good start. Now whether this deal was the best they could get...that's another story. I would let Bobby Cox retire with dignity and "spend more time with his family." Time for a new Manager as well.

Well I guess the oft-injured and topped out Church will fit in perfectly with the Braves. Maybe we can interst you in Billy Wagner as well. He's pushing 40 and on the DL with arm trouble. Perfect fit.

Windu is on a distinguished road
Church will fit in fine, as long as he can't run fast/steal bases. It's hard to watch a team that's missing an entire enjoyable element of the game of baseball.

I agree but the Braves aren't the only team that doesn't run much. That said Church has 6 SB's which on the Braves team is pretty good.
