Default Young Single Woman...Relocating from Philly to work in Roswell

I am going to be relocating from downtown Philly to Atlanta, GA (the job is in Roswell) next month. I really must live in a fun, happening place with lots of bars/restaurants/diversity/unique, however, from what I have heard Roswell is not that place (no offense roswellians).

I don't know Atlanta very well, but like everyone else on the planet I have heard about the infamous traffic. I am used to a 35 minute reverse commute currently, but I really don't want to be stuck in traffic for much more than that...45-60 min TOPS.

SO, my question is...where is the most awesome place a 25-yr old single dive bar loving female can live without an insane commute to roswell? Please don't tell me suburbs pleeeeease.

(Specific apartment complex advice is always a plus)

Thanks for your help!

Very few places in Atlanta are densely urban in the way northeastern cities like Philly, NYC, Boston, etc. are. No matter where you pick here, it's going to be different from what you're used to. In your situation, I'd probably be inclined to look at Midtown and Buckhead; you should be able to reverse-commute to Roswell in a reasonable amount of time (30 minutes, +/- 10 mins), and you'll have much of what Atlanta has to offer in the way of bars/restaurants/diversity, etc., close by, and ready access to other areas (Virginia Highland, Little Five Points, East Atlanta, Decatur) that you may find of interest. Either would be a reasonable base for six months to a year while you figure out what part of Atlanta would suit you best. And they're closest to what you're used to (though still very different).
