Buying Foreclosure in Lovejoy/Hampton 30228
Hi,
I'm buying a foreclosure in Clayton County Lovejoy/Hampton area. Actually, the subdivision is adjacent to the local walmart in that area.
How's crime in this area?
Is this area generally safe?
Are property values fairly stable?
I see lots of new construction. Is this area experiencing anything unusual in terms of jobs or "flight"?

Well I guess it would depend on what your version of "nice" is? Clayton county in general has ALOT of crime, and that area I don't believe is exempt.
Personally I would not think buying a foreclosure in that area would be a wise investment if you are looking to make some sort of profit, however they say there is a buyer for every house!
The market right now in general is soo over flooded. There is alot of growth going on right now in the hampton area of Henry county which is alot nicer than Clayton. Good luck to you!

Thanks for the advice. I'm just a little skeptical of that area since the media has given it the spot light a few times. How's the property crime in that area? Also, is Tara Blvd dangerous in terms of having above average number of car accidents?

Yes, Tara Blvd is dangerous in terms of having an above average number of car accidents. I don't have any stats on it but there seems to always be a wreck on that road. The state is currently looking at upgrading it to a limited access highway but it will be years before anything gets done. Crime along that corridor is pretty high. I've heard of several prostitution stings along that stretch, a gambling den was recently shut down, etc, etc. Not a good part of town.
Of course the farther south you get, the better it gets but because of how cheap it is to live down there I can't see it as a good investment long term. It's just a matter of time before the criminals move south.

Anyone else have any insight on the communities built in or around that Walmart in Lovejoy right off Tara?

Personally, I have a friend who lives in Lovejoy (right in that area) and loves it. Clayton County just gets a lot of bad press from the media; there is crime EVERYWHERE. I get so tired of people saying that certain spots are better than others, etc. It's all about where you want to live; if you like that area, then it will work for you.

Thanks for the feedback.
BTW, I just discovered that Lovejoy is home to the ONLY landfill for Clayton and Henry County. And it's only 1.3 miles from that shopping center.
How nice....

I just moved into the hampton/lovejoy area just past flint river coming from fayetteville. Ive lived in fayetteville all my life and EVERYONE i talk to about this area says "get a gun!" or "be careful there are alot of black folks!" Black folks dont bother me. I was just wondering how bad is crime in this neighborhood... I mean tara blvd is right down the road from me but I kind of live in the woods.
