Default So many variables...

There are so many variables to consider... the cost of housing is typically more expensive in those areas where there are better schools and lower crime. I live in a part of Fulton County called Johns Creek. It is marvelous... My suggestion is to establish a strong relationship with a realtor. They are limited as to how much they can say, but you can read between the lines. Good luck in your search! If this was helpful, please rate it with a +! Thanks.

5) Which would you prefer in-town or farther suburb or gentrificated locations or new & upcoming locations?

You could start with

1) Decatur, Kirkwood -> East
2) Duluth, Lawrenceville -> North East
3) Roswell, Alpharetta, John's Creek -> North
4) East Cobb , Marietta ->North West
5) Smryna ->West

I don't know much about South part of atlanta.

Good luck.
I think pellur is correct in that we need a great deal more info from the OP. The suggestions posted here, while all very good, are all over the map in terms of their individual characteristics. Someone drawn to Johns Creek is likely not to appreciate what Poncey-Highland has to offer, for example.
