I haven't seen it posted before, but this thread needs doing as I am interested to find others like myself. That might seem like an odd thing to say, but if you have lived here any length of time you know it really isn't

So before we go further let's define who exactly is a native "Atlantan"?

1. Born in the City of Atlanta, lives in the City of Atlanta, and will probably be buried in Oakland Cemetery. You might have moved away but Atlanta is always where your heart will be.

2. Born ITP in one of the inner suburbs or the City itself ("Decatur", East Point, College Park, Hapeville), still lives ITP and the thought of leaving ITP is weird and scary even though you have to do it from time to time.

3. Born in suburban Fulton, Cobb, Douglass, Gwinnett, or Clayton counties and still lives somewhere in Atlanta.

If you do not meet one of those requirements you do not qualify.

Born and raised in Marietta. I've been a happy Atlanta resident for my adult life, for the last several years in Midtown.

Added bonus: I've always lived less than 20 miles (as the crow flies) away from the hospital where I was born, Kennestone. That's not by effort -- just a coincidence.

Born in Piedmont Hospital (and Decatur/Emory area native) from parents both born in Atlanta and grandparents who moved to Atlanta (and lived in Midtown and West End) in the early years of the 20th century.

Born and raised in Gwinnett...you couldnt pay me to move back there, which is why I'm in the city now...very sad to see what happened to that county over the past 35ish years.

I was born rural...by the time I was in high school it was sprawl H-E-double hockey sticks...!

Born and raised in Morrow in Clayton county before it turned into a ghetto warzone. Relocated to Henry like so many of my Clayton neighbors. Saw the same thing happening to Henry that happened to Clayton so I relocated to Kennesaw 2 years ago. Me and my wife are very happy we made the move. The schools our kids attend alone made the move well worth it. Good luck with your native request. Last look there were only about 25 of us still left! LOL

Lived in the city my whole life, grew up in Guilford Forest in SW Atlanta, then as I got older my parents moved to Cross Creek off of Bohler Road kinda in between Buckhead and the Chattahooche Industrial area. Now Im grown and I live not to far from the nest actually in the Brookwood area of Buckhead.

Default I am a native Atlantan and parents are born and bred southerners

I was born at Dekalb General Hospital, now called Dekalb Medical Center in Decatur. My mom was born in Atlanta but had family in Waverly Hall, GA and my dad was born in Roanoke, Al. The true southern son I am, all the way.

People might think I'm hatin' on the south but it is so far from the truth. I love the south so much that I willingly rip into with all passion, intelligence, and fury SOME of my fellow southerners for holding what I feel are illogical & often contradictory last century/19th century views when they should be looking forward to the 21st century.

That's my story.

I'm a ninth-generation DeKalb Countian (my great-great-great-great-great-great grandfather came to the area in 1820 and is buried here). My daughter is the 10th generation of the family to live here.
