Where to Live? Please Help!
Hello All,
It looks more and more likely that I will be moving to Atlanta for work by the end of the year with my fiancée. My office will be near the Millennium at Midtown area (still not sure where that is). While I know there is no such thing as an easy commute, I was hoping for some suggestions on nice places to buy a home and start a family. I have been told by friends that Dunwoody and Sandy Springs were nice and "my kind of area", but I have no idea about the commute.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Please let me know if there are other areas with good schools, safe streets and beautiful homes that may get me to work easier
Thanks all!

If you were to live in Dunwoody or Sandy Springs, you could easily get to work via GA 400. There is a toll road, but I would advise you to get the Cruise Card so you don't have to pay at the toll booth. State Road and Tollway Authority
Depending on your budget and other requirements, Dunwoody and Sandy Springs would be a good choice for you.
City of Dunwoody, Georgia
Sandy Springs
Another choice would be City of Decatur, GA.
Tell us what "your kind of area" is and other parameters and I am sure that more members will give their two cents worth.
Here is information about Midtown (where your office will be) Midtown Alliance and MidtownAtlanta.org - News and Events
Good luck and welcome!

Thanks George. Any estimate on what my commute might be if I was working a 9-5 job?
Not sure what exactly my friend meant by "my kind of area" but I assume he was referring to the size of the homes, schools, dining options, proximity to the city, crime rates, close to golf courses, etc.
As a native NYer, I am both excited and nervous about a move down south. At least I can avoid the snow and 10 degree temps, right?

If you lived in Dunwoody, with traffic, it could take you 20 - 30 minutes. You would probably do better by taking side streets during rush hours. Without traffic, you could easily be in Midtown in only 15 minutes. My sister lives in Dunwoody (exit 5) and does that route daily.
