Pine Lake: Anyone know about it?
I'm looking at relocating to the city of Pine Lake... Anyone familiar with the area? I'm especially concerned about crime in the area.
If anyone could offer some description of life in Pine Lake, and some thoughts about crime, that would be helpful. Thanks.

I'll be watching responses with interest myself ... I live about 3.5 miles from there and enjoy taking walks there. I have talked with residents a couple of times during my walks, and they had only good things to mention. But I didn't specifically ask about crime.
I'm actually interested if there are any mosquito issues there, if anyone can address that as well. I went walking at dusk recently and didn't get bit, so maybe it's not too bad.

I can only comment about the Pine Lake Police Officer that was killed several years ago. Police Officer Francis Manuel Ortega, Pine Lake Police Department I believe he is the first officer to have died while working for Pine Lake.
City of Pine Lake, GA: About
It seems like a cute and quiet area when I drove through it once. Sorry I cannot elaborate on your question.

The only thing I know about Pine Lake is that one should always watch their speed when driving thru that city. Pine Lake is a notorious speed trap. Never been there though (not that I know of), where is Pine Lake in Dekalb??????

I don't think it is as bad as it used to be, but in the early part of the decade folks were getting pulled over left and right going through there. The main road through Pine Lake is Rockbridge Road, but you would probably blink and miss the city.
I don't recall ever hearing anything about crime in the city. In fact, the only time I ever recall even seeing Pine Lake on the news was when there were complaints about the speed trap.

"where is Pine Lake in Dekalb?"
Yes. It's in Dekalb. It is a very small city (one of the smallest in Georgia, I believe). It's between Avondale Estates and Stone Mountain, off of Rockbridge Road near where it intersects with Memorial.
It is a notorious speed trap and has a long history of such (watch your speed when you're on that section of Rockbridge!)
I think the town is so cozy and cute, but that area of Memorial and Rockbridge in Dekalb County is notorious for crime, so I'm curious to hear about life in the city from a resident.

Next time I take a walk out there, if I see a resident out and about, I will ask about that.

Thank you, CTL. I'll do the same and post any info I come across.
It's surprising how little info and forum discussions there are on-line about Pine Lake, so hopefully we can keep this thread going and make it a little resource for people like me doing searches about the city.
Thanks!

Between a Rock and a Hard Place.
Pine Lake is a small neighborhood turned incorporated city standing it's ground between Stone Mountain and Clarkston. I am a Police Officer in Pine Lake and I resent the idea that we are a 'Speed Trap.' We do not pull people over that are obeying the laws of Georgia. We do stop violators. We like to be seen and the best way to protect a City like ours is to guard the front door. Pine Lake has very little crime thanks in part to attentive citizens. Our residents are not afraid to call 911 and the Department's response time is typically under two minutes. We are also the smallest City in the State with a full-time, functioning Police Department.

I went to a concert at their club house this summer with a few friends. It gives new meaning to the word "quiant".
