Default Considering Douglasville or Gwinnett area Help

I am considering a move to one of these places but reading some of the posts I have many concerns. My husband and I are in the healthcare field, have small children and are interested in a family oriented area. We currently live in S.Florida and ready to LEAVE this overcrowded, expensive place. If anyone can offer an inside tip on the job market, TRAFFIC and schools we would really appreciate it. Searching the internet only tells u so much, I like to hear from the actual people who live/lived there. Thanks

I imagine there is similar growth in Douglasville but I am more familiar with Gwinnett/Hall/Forsyth and parts north.

It is booming--lots of jobs, houses and everything. Should be employment opportunities of all kinds in healthcare.

One area that many posters prefer is Hamilton Mills---somewhere between Lawrenceville/Duluth and Dacula.

Other cities/towns to research are Suwanee, Cumming, Oakwood and Gainesville/Hall county.

Here's a link to Gwinnett FYI--

Hall county---

I just Googled--Key words: gwinnett county employment etc

Douglasville is west of Atlanta---lots of growth there, too. Probably less expensive in general???

Google--Douglasville>>>

Hope that helps.

Default Greetings

I think it depends upon where you'll be working as traffic seems to be a monster for all of metro Atlanta. I am also in healthcare and will be working in Carrollton, which is about 25 miles southwest of Douglasville. Since I wanted to be a little closer to "civilization" (read that as downtown and airport), I chose to live in Villa Rica, just off of I-20 and west of Douglasville. I'll be 25-30 miles from downtown and the airport and have a nice reverse commute into Carrollton. Of course, my traffic in the AM won't be bad because of my early hours, but traffic home...we'll see.

I chose a subdivision called Mirror Lake because it seemed to be fairly diverse and cosmopolitan, qualities I find important. I have a family with children as well and want to give them the opportunity to be around other kids and activities. Mirror Lake has over 25 different neighborhoods, 36-holes of golf, USTA tennis, etc. Lots to do for adults and kids. I don't know if I'm allowed to post links, but mirror-lake.com has some information. If you are interested, I'd be happy to share realtor information, builder information, etc., that I've compiled since I made the decision to move there.

Good luck!

Cheers,
PMMD

Consider Grayson. Grayson offers great schools and activities for the family.

I recommend finding employment first and then figuring out where to live -- make you life much more enjoyable.
