Smile Marietta vs Duluth vs Peachtree City

Looking for real insight on East Marietta, Duluth and Peachtree City. We're relocating from MD (large home, private school, low stress commute to DC) to the Altanta metro. Great schools, spacious community and close to public transit and/or major roadways is preferred. Job offers are north and south of the Atlanta metro; therefore, I'm entertaining both the north and south Atlanta metro area communities. Really interested in Walton and Northview clusters. Peachtree schools don't seem to measure up, but I've read are still good schools (Rising Starr and McIntosh). Please sell me on one of these locations so that I can put myself out of this misery. I could research this until the cows come home, but real insight from Atlanta metro residents would be very helpful.

Thanks in advance!

Hi there,

Personally I would say stick to East Marietta (otherwise known as East Cobb) or Duluth. It really also depends on where you might be working. Schools in the northern suburbs, such as Alpharetta, Marietta (East Cobb particularly), Dunwoody, Woodstock and Duluth have more favorable ratings than inner city schools, unless you choose a private school of course.

I personally like East Cobb myself... great schools, more residential feel and not a congested as Duluth. Hope this helps!

Brent

The traffic in general is far less on the southside of Atlanta than on the northside.
Peachtree City rarely has any big traffic tie ups at all in general with the exception of the intersection of Hwy 54 and 74 durring both the morning and evening rush hour. Even that is light compared to alot of communites on the Northside.
What several families do here that want private schools , they send them to Woodward Academy or Heritage . Woodward is in College Park and Heritage is in Newnan. There are several more either here or nearby if you are looking into private religious schools as well.
You really have to see Peachtree City and experience it to see if it is for you. The golfcart trails, the lakes, and the parks here are awsome.
