Sounds like a scary place to me.

I think it's great news. While all of us have differences of opinion on what's wrong or right about the city and how it can improve, all of us can agree that Atlanta is a beautiful city with rich history, unique neighborhoods and whatever someone is looking for they can probably find it somewhere in the city.

'Some' will agree. Some will never find anything good/beautiful about Atlanta--'no culture/few historical buildings, etc'.
I am biased and watched the city grow and change and think the old and new give a livable and attractive ambience. We have great trees and that says a lot.

I do think that Atlanta's strongest link is its' neighborhoods...they are beautiful and unique to each other. You could blindfold me and drop me down in Ansley Park, Brookwood Hills, Haynes Manor, Tuxedo Park, Brookhaven, Dunwoody, Sandy Springs, Vinings, Druid Hills, Decatur, Avondale Estates, Inman Park, Candler Park, Virginia-Highland, Morningside or Oak Grove. A minute after removing my blindfold, I would know where I am.

I think everybody should visit Atlanta at least once so they can have a better view of what's wrong with the modern world.

Wow. Thanks for your insightful comments again. Many of us moved to Atlanta and love Atlanta for all that it has to offer and it continues to get better every year.

I agree that Atlanta is a great place and it does belong on NG list. Yes we do have some problems, but what city doesn't. Atlanta is not perfect nor does it portray itself as being such.
There are some that hate Atlanta. All I have to say is please stay positive and try to see everything the city has to offer before judging it. If you have not visited or do not go to the city, then of course you will not see Atlanta as NatGeo does.

Not much we can do about Sherman burning it down.... I wish people would give Atlanta a break on the lack of older buildings.

I have seen worse.
You will not get an argument from me over 'urban sprawl' and 'lack of culture' and all the rest.
I should thank HGTV for giving me a tour of locations that I would not select as potential points for relocation. A young military couple was featured last night searching for their first home in Virginia Beach/Hampton Rds. They were shown 60's houses with various drawbacks and I know they would have been thrilled with what their money could have bought in several areas of metro Atlanta. Then there are those who are buying homes in Arizona where rocks are considered great landscaping. I could go on.
