It is not a high poverty or low life area. Guess what these "poverty stricken" people are going to do in a few years? They are going to migrate toward North Gwinnett. How do I know this? Meadowcreek was once considered a good school and people thought that simply living in Gwinnett will shield them from socio-economic issues.

We are planning to spend a couple days/trips driving around the area to find an area that suits us as far as crime/rent prices. I guess its safe to assume that Meadow Creek is not the area I need to look in from all our posts. I am searching craigslist and as many local newspapers as I can find online as well. I hope I find something before I go crazy lol.

Hi Everyone, We went for a drive this weekend and looked around the flowery branch area and though it is a quaint area, I had a hard time finding my way around and feel that maybe you are all correct in the distance/travel time. ANyway, I found a few places in Doraville area and they are both within 5 miles of his work location! What can you all tell me about the Doraville area, specifically Hillside Drive area (Friendship park is nearby)?

Some will say it is a warzone and you will see nothing but pawn shops and check cashing kiosks. If you drive around and actually took the time to appreciate Doraville for what it is, I am sure you will be able to find decent pockets within your said budget. If you go by stats, we all should live in north Gwinnett or North Fulton and beyond. Different strokes for different folks. I personally like Doraville and there is definitely untapped potential throughout the city.

I agree with different strokes for different folks. Most people would not live in the neighborhood I am in right now. I however do not mind as I mind my own business and do my own thing. We are not into the nightlife nor do we frequent malls and the sorts so for now I am going to proceed with the driveby's on the doraville houses. Thanks for your input.

Chamblee is going through a major revival right now and some of that will spill over to Doraville. In fact, I would be more inclined to invest in Doraville right now than anywhere in Gwinnett (over-supplied). Another positive about Doraville is the location (Buford Hwy, Peachtree Ind, 85, 285), as well as having a Marta line. The same people that put down Doraville (including my parents) used to have the same view towards Decatur and East Atlanta.

Is that "best friend park" you are talking about? I don't see a "Friendship park" near that area.

Yes, my mistake. Anyway, we drove past the 2 houses we found online and are going to pass as they appreared to be the only two on the street that mowed their lawns (eeek).

On a brighter note, someone on here had a realtor contact me and I appreciate it as we are also now persueing possibly purchasing a house...maybe, we go see it friday. It is also near the best friend park but in a nicer neighborhood.. think its N. Hampton Dr.... hubby is going to go check it out friday.

Anyone have any info on Cumming GA?

Cumming is about 16-20 miles north of Norcross and the best way to get there is go up on Peachtree Parkway. During non peak hours, it may take you about 20 to 30 minutes . However, it might take a good 45 minutes during peak hours.
Apartments are not that common in this area. You can have home rented from about $1300 and higher.
