acworth
Acworth has also caught our eye, are we crazy for even considering it since we will need to use the airport 2-3 times a month? What are the advantages and disadvantages of living there, are there areas that are better than other, areas that you need to avoid? Help!

You can see my comments on Acworth @

Getting to the airport a couple times a month isn't a big deal, there's traffic but there's ways around it. I used to work for Delta and drive to/from Acworth everyday.

Acworth is a nice place to live. If you want an easier way to get to the airport and want to avoid the interstate, look at Powder Springs. You can take a four lane road straight to the airport (278) and it has a lot less traffic.

Acworth, smackworth. I mean, what are you looking for? It's very rural and 45 minutes north of Atlanta. In 2005, it was the meth capital of the world, but I don't know about now. I go to school there five days a week. It's small, country, and about an hour and fifteen minutes south of Chattanooga, Tennessee. I'm curious to know what you're so excited about.

Moderator cut: insult doesn't mean that's how Acworth is
Acworth encompasses 4 different Counties...Cobb, Paulding, Bartow, and Cherokee
And there is a small district in downtown Acworth there are some local druggies (find me a town that doesn't) but for the most part it is rural and quiet. close enough to alot of shopping and 15 minutes from the mall.
I have made the trip to the airport many times over the last 8 yrs I have lived here. It takes about an hour. most of the time I can make it in 40 minutes
(Disclosure...time travel not indicitive of GA drivers I am from NY)

Much Development, Lots of Community, Great Area
We have found Acworth to be a pretty tight-knit community, at least where we are. Like the previous poster said, it is an expansive area and like anywhere else, you can find a mix depending on where you are.
There are really building up the schools (really forced to by the demand in the area), but are also doing more social development with a new movie theater, lots of grocery store options, lakes, growing entertainment.
It was a country, small-town type of area a few years ago, but it is truly expanding and becoming a premier place to live. It still has small town feel in some ways (which I love), but it also is becoming more metropolitan. Traffic can be an issue, but much of what you need is accessible in the city.
