That's good news. It would be really interesting to see retail outlets along Peachtree. I can't remember there being such a thing in the last few decades other than Macy's and some places downtown. Looks like they are placing this one at 12th & Midtown.

While home furnishings are great we already have lots of high end furniture stores down peachtree st, be nice to see something else. But a store of this size will be great to see.

True, what type of stores do you all think we need? Are we looking for a high end retail places with clothes boutiques? Something more quaint like wine and cheese shops? Something practical like an electronics store ?

We already have one wine and cheese shop on peachtree. I would imagine they want to attract some clothing stores.

Apple would be cool.

Looks like West Midtown is giving the Midtown Mile a run for its money. What Now Atlanta reports that Anthropologie, a women's clothing store (with home furnishings thrown into the mix) with locations at Perimeter Mall and Lenox, will be be opening up shop at the Westside Urban Market. I imagine this is the kind of retailer the Midtown Alliance would kill to have on the Mile.

Anthropologie has an artsy/creative note to it, so I'm not surprised that they chose West Midtown over the Midtown Mile. Something along the lines of a Zara flagship (or TopShop, if we could get one) would likely be a better choice for the Mile. Perhaps even a Uniqlo - again, if we could get one. I write a lot about fashion retail as part of my work, so indulge me on this nonsense.

On the other hand, I think CB2 is a good fit where it is - it's Crate & Barrel's slightly lower-priced (but nowhere near Ikea prices), modern little sister, and that type of furniture should appeal to the kind of residents Midtown has and wants to continue to attract.

I think in order to get people to shop in Midtown and for it to become a destination, it needs to have stores that don't exist in this market yet, like CB2.

If they could attract an small, upscale grocery in that area that would be nice.

Depends. It would definitely be most successful is there were some mixes. Places like Forever 21 or Zara or Apple would do great there.
