just for the people scared off by the KKK comments, there is NO KKK activity in Covington, GA. That doesn't mean that there aren't any closet white supremacists, it is the south, but def. no KKK. I have lived here all my life and have NEVER seen any demonstrations, church burnings, or anything of the sort, or even had any media activity regarding it. In Conyers, there is a large segregation between the three major populations but nothing even close in Covington. Covington is a wonderful place to live; the most welcoming group of people in the area. Quiet town with a beautiful history and a place where you can befriend your neighbors. The schools are not anything to brag about, which is probably the only downfall. THE COVINGTON MENTIONED ABOVE WAS MOST CERTAINLY COVINGTON, KY WHERE THERE ARE KNOWN AND PUBLIC KKKFELLOWSHIPS....NOT COVINGTON, GA. Feel free to ask me anymore of you questions personally.

I dont think the original writer meant "black," just "urban" per se. There is alot of crime in Lithonia and it is quickly filtering into Conyers; not unlike other areas outside of Atlanta. Too much urban sprawl

Depends where you are in Lithonia. There are Multi-Million dollar homes and there are older apartment complexes in the area that is called Lithonia. Lithonia is a city itself, but the surrounding unincorporated Dekalb County that uses the same zip code is generally referred to as Lithonia. There are some very nice parts and there are some rough patches. The area is mostly middle class and is a safe place to live, but like everywhere in Metro Atlanta crime is inching up. Add to that a disproportionate number of foreclosures and it becomes a punching bag.

Blame the economy... blame Generation X... blame MTV... blame the writers strike... Just don't blame me.

That is really nice to know as far as everyone in Covington welcoming you and there is no raciscm as I am preparign to move to Covington. I really need help with job info and elementary school info as I have 2 small kids. Any thoguhts? I will be living in the 30016 area.

Hi, I actually live in Conyers (Rockdale County), this place has experienced a total population and building boom within the past couple of years.

We like the city, we moved here from England about 5 years ago, we use Flat Shoals Elem School, it's GREAT, however the middle school is said to be a little under par.
