Go by school disctricts:

Suwanee Good = N. Gwinnett, Collins Hill, Johns Creek(New School), South Forsyth, Lambert(New School), Peachtree Ridge.

Lawrenceville Good = Brookwood, Dacula, Grayson, Archer(New), MountainView, PeachtreeRidge (New); Avoid Central Gwinnet, Berkmar

That said, Suwanee is superior to most towns in metro Altanta - IMO

Suwanee is on it's way up. Lawrenceville has had its time.

AS long as you avoid Berkmar and Central Gwinnett in Lawrenceville, you will be in areas comparable to to Suwanee - or better (if you like pretty country views). Especially East of the county, which has been designated as Rural and Estate Housing only. Please see the Gwinnett County Unified Plan where NE Grayson, E. Lawrenceville, and SE Dacula have been given this designation. There are two large parks in the area - one of which is the largest in the County - Harbins Alcovy - at 1800 acres. The park was basically built for wealthy horse-owners in the area. Sugarloaf Parkway will provide access, but commercial buildings and commercial strip malls are not allowed. The reason this is being done is because of the building up of Lawrenceville downtown, the projected future increase of lawyers and governmnet officials working in Lawrenceville, and the increase of professors at the University GA Gwinnett.

That at least is the plan and it has been in the works for several years.
