Default Places for single women to meet new people in Atlanta?

I am a professional female and have been basically married to my job for the last few years. I would like to change this and get out to meet new friends - both male and female. My problem is that I don't know where to go to meet new people. I currently don't have any single friends and therefore I don't have someone to go with me to go out and meet new people. Any suggestions on what type of places I can go to meet similar professional singles?

Default Hi

I have the same problem. I just moved to Atlanta. Are you close by any chance to the midtown area?

try Do something, Learn something, Share something, Change something - Meetup.com and pick some groups that interest you.

Are there any professional associations that are affiliated with your job (LOL I know; you're trying to get away from work)? In my working days I met quite a few people through such get-togethers.
Join the museum! Their events are amazing and well attended by singles.

Me too. I just moved to Atlanta about 2 months ago, and it's driving me crazy that I don't have any single friends to hang out with and socialize. If y'all know of any good places to meet people or if you have any suggestions, please pass the word on to me.

A/S/L and race. Yes it does make a difference in Atlanta.

Please let's not make this a racial driven post. We all know the reality of Atlanta. As a whole socially segregation still exist. Yes I know there are some individual exceptions but let's give real information for a real question. Now with that being said I moved out of ATL about 3 years ago.

Take some Recreational classes at Georgia State University and Georgia Perimeter College. Very often these classes offer things like canoeing or hiking. Maybe you can find someone that way, eh? Gotta think outside the box, eh?

I am a para-pro here and likewise have found it difficult to meet single friends to go out with. I have spent time @ the High, Botanical Gardens and other local venues, but it seems alot of people are stand-offish these days. Not sure, and here we go again, but it may be the state of the economy as a factor.
