Default How many days for vacation in Atlanta?

I'm planning a trip to Atlanta and am wondering how many days are needed to see the sights and get a good feel for the place? Would 3 full days and one travel day either side be enough?

Thanks!

Depends on what you plan on doing. With kids or without?

Half that amount of time would be more than enough to be frank. You can spend the other day and a half at Lake Lanier or travel to Asheville,NC or Lookout Mountain,TN.

A lot depends on what you want to see. You could easily get through cnn, aquarium, coca cola, etc, in a day. 3 days should be fine.

I think the 3 days is a good plan--get a sample. I don't think you need to rush through everything, though, especially all the touristy destinations. There are nice restaurants, pubs, and neighborhoods to wander through. Atlanta's mostly nice for dining outdoors in the Fall.

It depends on what you want to see and how much you want to see. I used to come here mostly for nightlife....see one or two interesting things during the day, go to dinner somewhere fun, maybe see a play, then stay out until 4 or 5 am. Three days seems like a reasonable amount of time to me.

Some different types of destinations, depending on what you're interests are:

MLK Jr. Memorial and National Historic Site
Carter Center/Presidential Library and Museum
Fox Theater
High Museum
Georgia Aquarium
Centennial Olympic Park
Stone Mountain
Historic Downtown Atlanta/Fairlie-Poplar District
Margaret Mitchell House Museum
ZooAtlanta
Fernbank Museum of Natural History
Falcons, Hawks, Braves, or Thrashers game
Atlanta Cyclorama
Atlanta History Center
Atlanta Botanical Garden/Piedmont Park
Underground Atlanta
Atlantic Station, Lenox Square, Phipps Plaza
Center for Puppetry Arts
