Question Cumming vs. Buford (OR Forsyth vs. Gwinnett

Any information on these areas re. schools, crime, etc.?????

I have 3 kids elem., middle., and high!! We have seen Cumming and Buford. My friend is in buford and is trying to talk us out of Cumming. As you know, everyone thinks their town is the best.

I know there must be differences--but that area seems to be a very nice place to live in general. There is tremendous growth in this area. The communities of Suwanee, Buford and Cumming seemed to be close together.

You could check with local PD on crime--and research the schools. Gwinnett is larger than Forsyth county, if that matters.

bhs119,
I am going to repeat the "Atlanta Mantra" . Work place and commute should most probably seal the decision for you.
Here are a few positives about Cumming/Forsyth
1) Schools are decent . Please visit the schools before making any decision as stats don't give you a true picture
2) You will be paying on an average about .5% less on property taxes.
3) Buford seems a slightly farther from downtown than Cumming.
4) Crime rate stats maybe lower in Forsyth. This may be be skewed partially due to the fact that Forsyth county population is lesser than that in Gwinnett. Regardless of that, it does not seem to be that big an issue.
