I live there and have been very happy so far. It's one of the lowest-priced complexes in Perimeter Center but the apartments have all been renovated, the amenities are decent, and the community is well-maintained. It's not perfect but I don't understand why anyone would pay $1000+ for the other places around there because they're not any better. Most of what's wrong with Ashford Park (noise, auto burglaries, people not picking up after pets, etc) is what's wrong with apartment living in general; the complex itself is great. It's in a good location with low crime and it's within walking distance of lots of things including the MARTA station.

Jay, we are debating Ashford Park as well... 3 bedroom... Like amenities in some newer places but those have little to no storage in apartments...
Was within price range, like upgraded apartment. Always concerend over car break-ins (which seem common in most apartment complexes) and noise issues.
Will note that lately review in Apartment Ratings have been really, really bad...

Erick, how long have you lived there? What type of apartment do you have? My fiancee liked Ashford Park a lot more than I did but I think we are going to relocate there and sign a short-ish term lease.

I know you have spent a great deal of time researching apts. I was curious when you said the reviews have been really bad lately so I read them.
It appears that 2 people are posting the bad reviews. One person admitted they had their "old car with flat tires and broken windows" towed and writes psyhotic bad reviews in ALL CAPS.
The second person admits they didn't get their security deposit back and also makes crazy claims.
Keep in mind that people with hidden agendas frequent these blogs.

I can understand that and I see that evidence on many other sites...
It's just extremely disconcerting to read these things... Especially since it is not a cheap investment to make for a number of months. It's important to keep perspective in things I know... No place is perfect but it's difficult to read stuff like this regardless...
I don't like Apartment Ratings because it allows anonymous entries.

A lot of what's on Apartment Ratings is ridiculous. If management cheated and scammed everyone they wouldn't be in business... that's usually just code for "I paid my rent late and they charged me a fee" or "I didn't bother to read my lease so I didn't know there was a $15/mo trash fee."
As far as the trashy/ghetto/shady stuff goes, it starts at $750/mo so it's not some miraculous fountain of luxury. It's just a place to live. Those new complexes next door aren't any better, though... they're just new so there hasn't been enough time for the lights to burn out or the sidewalk cracks to start appearing. They charge ridiculous rates for rent and sell themselves as some sort of lifestyle enhancer but beneath all that new paint and marble tile is just another rent check factory full of residents who jump from place to place and don't care about their community. They've already had one change of management, and I'm sure more will come. Give those places 5 years and they'll look just like Ashford Park. Personally I think those people are insane because they're paying like twice what I'm paying yet I'm so close to them that I can literally see in their windows and we have just as many amenities than they do.
I don't mean to make it sound like Ashford Park is trashy. It's actually very clean and well-kept, but it's older. It might not be exactly what you're looking for but it's a good place to live.
EDIT: Let me add that this is one of the wealthiest parts of Atlanta and there's no shortage of people with ridiculously high standards, which is probably where a lot of the negative comments are coming from. Read between the lines and you'll see that many of the complaints are petty. If you look at reviews for other complexes in particular you'll also find that there's some racial tension around here, so keep in mind that when some people say "ghetto" or "full of thugs" their definition of these things might be quite different from yours.

Erick...
Being from a rather bad area of NYC. I have a definition of ghetto and I most definitely do not put any place within the Perimeter area to be anything close to ghetto...
Plus, an 'older' complex in this area is 1990's... When we talk older in NY, we talk 1930's... Not even close...
We are going to move to Ashford Park.

When you say car break ins, are you talking about cars that have music systems, rims etc... or just cars in general?

Foxy it is mostly a crime of opportunity so they will hit any car, but having a very nice one will move you to the top of the list.
To these people, finding 3 dollars in change in the ashtray is a successful mission. I have seen coke machines pryed open for a few dollars and they even go in restaurants and cut the lock on those gumball machines and steal them.
