Hey.

I just have a question. Do the wealthy African Americans tend to live in certain areas, or are the wealthy....black or white....pretty much grouped together in the same communities?

It's a odd question....but I've always been wondering.

Thanks!

They pretty much live anywhere they choose...some wealthy black Atlantans choose to live in mostly black neighborhoods, while others choose to live in mixed neighborhoods. There isn't a simple/single answer to your question.

Yes, there is no hard and fast rule about where well-to-do African-Americans are choosing to live anymore.
There are the more traditional and predominantly AA communities ie Cascade Heights, then there are the new money AA communities ie Lithonia.
However, many wealthy African Americans are opting to move into wealthy and predominantly white communities such as Buckhead, Sandy Springs, Alpharetta and Duluth. It's a much different landscape racially than it was 20-25 years ago.

There is a small percentage of white and mixed-race people living in Cascade Heights...looks like about 5%.

It's fascinating to me how different areas in the Atlanta metro can vary so radically.

For example, here's where I live in Mableton (western suburb) where I know at least a few blacks live in $million+ houses:

And here's an example of a NW suburb (Roswell) where it's also probably true:

Mableton looks like a cross-section of the U.S.
