Confused Need Help on areas north vs south (Atlanta, Peachtree City: crime rates, neighborhood)

I keep reading the most desired place in atlanta is north but then i also read peachtree city is very nice but its in the southside ..........people keep warning me not to go south. but then i heard buckhead or whatever its called is very affulant but alot of crime???

PTC can't really be considered part of 'southside' Atlanta...it's quite a distance from the city. PTC is particularly popular with families, airport employees, and golfers, of course. It's really very lovely, but if you are single and/or want access to big-city life and amenities...not so much.
There is plenty of info on this forum on Peachtree City...just keyword it and you'll get a ton of threads and information.
You are right to begin to do your own legwork about Atlanta instead of listening to people that appear to be painting the city with a very broad brush. Also, quite often people will base their opinion of this city on an experience they had with it 10 or 15 years ago. Atlanta is like quicksilver; the changes come fast and furiously.
As far as north vs. south, I guess it's fair to say that the north side is the more desirable one. However, changes have been and continue to be coming to the south side, and at a brisk pace...I wouldn't dismiss it by any means. You will encounter many posters on here that are passionate about their lives on that side of town.
Buckhead is arguably Atlanta's 'old money' neighborhood (every city has one); crime is a concern, just as it is in any densely populated area of any city...but I wouldn't call it 'out of control'. You just need to take precautions, just like in any urban situation.

It was rated one of the lowest in state in crime . Just google Peachtree City and crime rates and you will see several sites listed with this information. Also check it out on zip skinny for other information you might be interested in.Peachtree City's zip code is 30269.
