Hi everyone. I'm new to this board but I had a question...

I'm going to be working in downtown Atlanta this summer and I'm looking at places to live. One of my options is over in East Atlanta, in South Kirkwood, a few blocks north of the Charles Yates golf course.

According to Mapquest it's about 6.5 miles/15 minutes away from work.

I was wondering

1) How's the commute on I-20 in the morning and coming back? How long will it really take in morning traffic?

2) How's the neighborhood if anyone knows?

Thanks everyone. I'm excited about coming to Atlanta.

Personally, I really, really like that neighborhood. It's been gentrifying if the past few years, and hasn't quite finished so there is a little crime but overall its a nice neighborhood.

I don't know how I-20 is in during rush hour but most people I know who live down there use Dekalb Ave. Dekalb Ave has very few lights because it runs along the railroad tracks and will dump you right in downtown Atlanta. Then you don't have to deal with the highways. Should only take you 15-20 to get downtown from there. You could also drive up to a Marta station and take the train in from there (Cheaper then parking).
