Peachtree City
Does anyone have any info on Peachtree? I have heard that it's a nice area and that people drive around in golf carts. Crime seems to be low, and housing is affordable. Any info would help!
Thanks!

We went to PTC a couple of weeks ago and liked the area so much that we put an offer on a house in the town next door " Fayetteville".

Peachtree City
Please give both positive and negative info on Peachtree City. We are looking for a place to live that would not require us to move due to driving. The golf cart/bike path concept sounds wonderful and we also like the ordinances requiring pets to be confined/restrained and/or neutered and spayed. We have pets and it has been a problem with areas where animals are allowed to roam free and many are abandoned. They seem to wind up at our house and my wife always takes them in!

We are relocating to PTC in a couple of weeks. So far, I have not seen any negatives for the city. Everyone seems so friendly and people really enjoy way of life. The crime is low, the schools are great, and I love the trails. If you want info on where to buy a golf cart, let me know. They run anywhere from 2K-7K, depending on what you want in a cart. I spoke to a lady at City Hall, and she said that people drive them everywhere: the doctor, mall, high school kids drive them to school, and wal-mart. Too good to be true huh?!!!

One thing to consider is that Peachtree City is pretty far from most of metro Atlanta's employment centers. You're looking at a ~35 mile commute to Midtown, and even farther to Buckhead, Perimeter, Cobb Parkway, or Alpharetta. This is not a concern if you work in downtown or at the airport obviously. But it would be an issue if you settle in PTC without landing a job first- your job search options will be limited.

Like MrTudo, we really liked the Peachtree City area but settled on a new development about 3 miles outside of PTC in Sharpsburg. Couldn't quite find the right house. John Wieland is apparently going to be building a self contained community in PTC in a couple of years. We'll try again then.

Yes, this is true; Peachtree City is so far away from I guess the "premier" business districts of Midtown, downtown, Buckhead, etc. I am in Fayetteville and it's a 25 minute haul to the nearest expressway, interstate 75 and Peachtree City is 15 minutes away from me so you do the math . I guess this is a HUGE negative if you will be working downtown or beyond; I would not move to Peachtree City if I were working downtown or beyond.
