No, what you noticed was the Georgia influence. There really isn't much difference between GA and AL outside of Atlanta.

Hey, nothing wrong with church, NASCAR or hunting is there? It is nice to have a nice mix of folks.

Anyway, there are number of fun festivals in Alabama. For one, the Mobile area has the Shrimp Festival. Hunstville has NASA and its space musuem, Birmingham has a great municipal Musuem of Art (it's free), AL has great college football traditions ( the Iron Bowl & Magic City Classic), Birmingham has the Civil Rights Institute, and a Domed Stadium and Entertianment district on the way.

Atlanta does not compare to anywhere in AL, but its not a horrible place.

Wow, that sounds like "rural" to me except for the suburban sprawl part. You see the same focus on the first several items in small towns in the midwest, for example. More Lutheran/UCC than Evangelical Baptist, but...

Well, let's aim it a bit more now toward what I guess the OP meant in their post. In other words, aside from the usual jokes and jabs people will pull, what things about Alabama would you find in Atlanta? Now by this it might mean a slower pace of life compared to other cities. Or certain foods. Maybe just the sheer number of people from AL who actually live (or work) in metro Atlanta now, etc. Focus on that and go from there.

Most of them aren't as bad as some people make them out to be...they are just more family-oriented. I don't avoid suburbs, I just find very few real reasons to travel to them from the city.

The pace of life is actually faster down here than it was in the Twin Cities, at least in my opinion.

Sounds like Georgia culture to me...and Tennessee...and Kentucky...and South Carolina...and northern Florida, Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi...heck, bchris, it's Southern culture.
I mean....Atlanta is in the South, if you didn't notice.
