Alabama culture in Atlanta?
I took a trip to Atlanta last summer and couldn't help notice the Alabama influence there. This makes sense because its only 70 miles from the Alabama border, many transplants move to Atlanta from Alabama, rural Alabama residents go to Atlanta if they need a city, and Atlanta still feels very deep South. I went into a bar in Atlanta and it felt like I was in Birmingham. Does anybody else see this in Atlanta?

I have a feeling I'm going to regret this, but.... what exactly is "Alabama culture", and what exactly in Atlanta looked/felt like it?

College football, huntin', fishin', NASCAR, fundamentalist Christianity, Wal-Mart, suburban sprawl.

Interesting combination. Many of these things are found in many parts of the country. You must not have been in downtown Atlanta if you found hunting, fishing and walmart.

I am from the northeast, but went to college in one of the SEC schools. So, this place had a small town, deep southern feel.
One weekend, I got a couple of my friends together to escape for the weekend. We decided on Atlanta because it was within driving distance.
We went out in Buckhead. One bar there made me feel like I was in a redneck town. But, then we went to other bars and it was decent.
Since that point, I have been to Atlanta many times. Many areas of Atlanta have a deep southern/Alabama feel, but some don't.

I guess Denver, Colorado, Toledo, Ohio and Indiana have Alabama culture too because I've seen most of those things in those places as well.

Switch College Football with College Basketball and you have the area where you're at now, Charlotte NC, these are things you see in almost every city in the country so how can you relegate it to just Atlanta.

This thread was obviously started just to be offensive and start arguments...I've seen this guy's work all over the forum. Why is this allowed?

I think that the OP is simply pointing out the culture similiariites between Alabama and Atlanta because they are so close to each other.
Atlanta is only around 70 miles from the border of Alabama. I have to admit..... I agree with him.
I noticed tons of similiarties between Birmingham and Atlanta with culture.
