I am wondering what the commute will be like to Marietta from the Rucker/Houze intersection. It looks like a nice area but I don't know about the traffic on 120 or even if that is the best route to take.

Also, there are 3 zip codes that intersect in that area (30004, 30075, 30076). Is there one preferred over the others for lower taxes? I should mention this is my first time buying a house so I'm pretty clueless about property taxes and things to watch out for.

Any advice is appreciated.

From that intersection, you will be going against the bulk of the traffic. Not traffic free by any means, but the worst of it would be headed east and south.

30004 is a Milton zip code. 30075 and 30076 are mainly Roswell. Taxes will be comparable, as they are both North Fulton, with Milton real estate prices a bit higher.

Marietta is a big area, so it is tough to suggest routes without a specific destination.

That would be a lonnnnnng commute. If you work near the Big Chicken, you could give yourself many more hours of free time, every week, by buying a house in west Cobb rather than Roswell.

My spouse had a very similar (but a bit shorter) commute to the one you're considering, for several years. It came about because we were already residing in north-east Cobb, and then the job opportunity came up in west Cobb. That commute was a wearing grind. I can't imagine a good enough reason to take on that commute by electing to buy a house so far from your job.
