Well, time has definitely raced by in my relocation plans to Georgia and Summer is just around the corner. After what seems like a never-ending research, I've decided on McDonough, GA specifically in the attendance zones that are approved for Eagles High Landing High and Middle Schools. Until I'm sure that Henry County is where I'd like to make my permanent residence, I'll be looking into renting options which happens to be the main focus in my relocation timeline. I've been doing some significant online searching for housing options in the chosen area and will be making a trip in June in hopes of signing a lease. What I'm wondering if putting all my focus in finding renting options based on the attendance zone is going to be too difficult or limited for that area? What would be a decent 2nd or 3rd choice in Henry County with consideration given to the schools in that area? If there's anyone currently residing in Henry County or know about the schools in that area, how would you rank the high schools?

I'm considering accepting a position at the SunTrust Operations Center in Stockbridge until I can get settled and look at working in Atlanta. I chose McDonough instead of Stockbridge because I wanted something a bit more diverse.

First of all you should have no problems renting in Mcdonough anywhere! The market is flooded with for sales, rents , forclosures, new constructions etc everywhere you look!
Test and state rankings put Union Grove High School at the top followed by Ola, then probably Eagles Landing, Luella,
Eagles landing is a very nice area I think you will find alot of choices there depending on your price range. You where right in choosing Mcdonough over Stockbridge IMHO.. Eagles landing is very centrally located in the middle and near many things..
Stay away from any area that feeds into Henry High or middle! If schools are important to you.. Good luck in your search

Another area of Henry county to try is Locust Grove. Exit 212 off I-75
Very nice rural area and growing by leaps and bounds. Nice community and close to shopping and most lots are good sized still. There is a great private school in Locust Grove called Strong Rock ; State of the art in all categories. will someday be the largest private Christian School in the SE.
There is a new elementary school near us called Bethleham with lots of new construction in the area after you get settled and tierd of renting. Call us and we will be glad to meet with you and build your house. mikehoovercustsomhomes.com
