Atlanta is not a safe city!
Please be advised that the City of Atlanta is not a safe city!
(Surrounding areas are also crime ridden.)
It was once such a fine place to live, but, the ELECTED city officials have run the place into the ground. Poor money management, little care has been given to keep their fire & police force funded properly!
People are beaten & robbed, students murdered by idiots with guns, folks jerked from their cars, home invasions, shop clerks murdered for chump change!
Not a great place to live, trust me!

Wow. Not sure where that came from but I believe Atlanta is safer now then it has been in the past and I live in the city and love it.

Idiots, mayors, and chumps, OH MY! Somebody has been giving too much credibility to dramatic news reports. Calm down, take a deep breath.
It's a big city...incidents are going to happen. But violent crime in Atlanta has decreased dramatically in recent years. 105 murders in 2008? Big deal - try more than 300 in 1979...THAT'S when Atlanta was "not a safe city".

Could this have not been said in another "Atlanta is scary" or "Atlanta is violent" thread? Why start a new one just to make a comment that's not addressed to anyone or not pose a question about your concern?

hey there, that's not nice!!! You left out some things:
terribly maintained roads, car culture, lack of public meeting places besides malls, transient, annoying southern accents that make you cringe, all nightlife is spread out creating drunken drivers everywhere making me scared to death to leave my house on weekend nights...

I like where I live maybe 4 miles OTP, and after over four years in our house I'm convinced that the area around us is perfectly safe.

Duh-uh!
We had our car window smashed and car ransacked across the street from the state capitol, in broad daylight, under surveilance cameras, and it still didn't deter the degenerate s**t who did it.

We had no sign of flooding last time and it was around 10.6 feet. Last I heard today it was at 10.0 feet.
We're on a hill on the other side of the ridge from the creek, so I'm not very concerned. It would have to reach the 50 or 100 foot mark to impact us.
That said, I'm curious. I'll see if I can even see the creek on Cooper Lake or Fontaine Road this evening. Maybe folks west of us have some basis for concern, I'm not sure...?
