Hello,

I am applying for a job as a staff accountant in Atlanta with a non-profit, governmental organization. The salary is "negotiable" (I hate that word). I need to know how much money I need to earn to make ends meet. I'm a single mother of two under two and receive no other support. Ideally, I'd like to rent a 3 BR townhome or house. 2 BR apartment will be doable though. Safe neighborhood is a must. I don't really have much else for requirements right now. Thanks!

It will vary widely depending on where you live, work and the lifestyle you want. I would check out rentals on Craigslist and check a cost of living calculator to get an idea of how it compares to where you are now.

Depends on a bachelor degree and how much YOU are looking to spend in a rental also what is the cost of living compared to your current wages now. Atlanta has very nice areas however, I have found salaries for accounting can be limited for some areas of Atlanta. Give a little more info

Ok I would like to live within a 30 min. commute of where I work. I have no idea what Atlanta rush hour is like and figure that could be anywhere from 5-25 miles. The business is located at I-20 and Bolton Rd. NW. I do have my B.S. and have worked primarily with housing authorities/HUD accounting.

Right now the lifestyle I'm interested in is the kind where I can actually pay my bills - I don't have a lot but I'm looking at shelling out roughly $1,000/mo in day care. I'm counting on zero support from the ex-husband. Mommy and baby/toddler groups close by would be nice. Being nearby the Y would be nice. I would prefer a quieter suburb over right in the city.

A safe neighborhood is a must but being from the Detroit area originally my definition of safe is probably pretty loose. I guess little to no violent crime.
