Default Moving to Atlanta want middle class black neighborhood

I'm moving to Atlanta in March and I'd like to find out about different neighborhoods. I'm looking for a diverse or middle class black neighborhood. I will live in an apartment/condo vs. house. Need public transportation coming from a city where I don't need a car so I won't have one right away, I see from some of the post I will need one. What are some of the nicer predominantly black areas. Any information you can provide will be helpful.

Why don't you just focus on finding a nice neighborhood, period? Atlanta has enough black people here that you won't have a problem finding and interacting with whatever type of group you want: the artsy crowd, the sanctified crowd, the buppies, etc. I'm black, middle class, artsy (photography) and chose to live in Sandy Springs. I have yet to regret moving here.

Thank you, is Sandy Springs another city or a section of Atlanta?

Sandy Springs is a city north of Atlanta, but it shares a bordering area within the Atlanta city limits that is also referred to as Sandy Springs. It's what's called a "close in suburb" and it is a nice, middle class area. It's serviced by MARTA, but some areas don't get bus service, or have limited service on the weekend. But, if you live close to a train station, you can drive and park/ride or take a taxi for a few bucks.

If you're looking to rent an apartment, try PROMOVE. They are a free apartment locator service (they get paid by the apartment complexes). I used them for my move here in August. If you have any other questions, ask them and I'll help as much as I can.
