I tried it for the first time at Pappadeaux's in Austin, TX and it was soooo good. So I concur with those who stated Pappadeaux.

Just be careful! You might run across an alligator that can smell the scent that you just ate his cousin! Be afraid...be very afraid...

On that note, I would strongly advise against ordering the Alligator at Dante's.

Alligator is actually pretty good. To me, the taste and consistency is like a cross between chicken and shrimp. It's a very mild meat with no outstanding flavor. And as long as you don't think about the fact that you're eating a giant lizard, it's enjoyable. Especially fried.

It is pretty weird though, the idea of eating an animal that if given the opportunity would eat you too lol.

And I love chitlins, but they stink. Gator does not.

Yeah I agree. When cooked and seasoned well, Gator (and most places actually serve Gator Tail which has the best meat) has a really nice texture and flavor.

Yeah it looks like Bama ate all the Gator they possibly could hold and stomped whatever was left into bits.

By The Way. I'm not a Bama fan. I really didn't care which one won. Just glad to see an SEC team make it to the Championship since Georgia Tech didn't make it.
