It's not an emergency, but I wish to report vagrancy in Dekalb county. in the Glenwood and Candler road area. Who would I call? And what time frame would they act in?

Call 411--I think that connects you to the community service board. Or is it '311'--maybe so. Try 311 and see what you get.

Another idea which might get faster results--make a non-emergency call to DeKalb PD--'911'

If your problem is individuals who you want removed from that area, then I suggest you call the police. These people could be arrested for loitering, trespassing, public intoxication, or have warrants out for their arrest. If they have physical or mental health issues, then the police can direct them to whatever assistance is available. If it's just people "hanging out," then repeated visits by the police will probably encourage them to go somewhere else.

DeKalb's non-emergency number is 678-406-7929. Those calls go to the 911 operators, so there is no real distinction between an emergency and non-emergency line.

If your goal is to have these people leave the area where they currently congregate, then I don't recommend downplaying the significance of what you report to the police. The more you tell them "it's not an emergency," the more likely it is that it won't be handled to your satisfaction. If you think these people may be doing anything illegal, then report it as suspicious behavior.

The best thing you can do to make sure this is not a recurring problem is get to know the officers that work the beat in your area, especially the sergeants.
