Senseless.

When you try and avoid the foolishness, someone still comes along and snuff you out...

They probably shot him in the butt for the fun of it too...smh...

PK- I agree this is so very senseless. I thought I saw a report on WSB saying the employee pulled out a gun and got into a shoot out with the perps.

The store owner came out of the backroom after he heard the young man shout, he had been shot and he came out with his shotgun and hit one of the suspects...

Now, I see the suspect is 19 years old too....*sigh*

Is anybody planning to go to the vigil tonight? I thought about getting involved with ATAC (the folks holding the vigil) over the summer, but let my inertia get the best of me.

Murder & mayhem is considered normal for metro Atlanta. Not a day goes by where someone isn't a victim of violent crime in this city. Atlanta = H*ll on earth. Here is a synopsis of what happened here in just ONE weekend:

And people here will actually argue that Atlanta is a nice place to live. LOL!!

Yet another example of what happens when you allow fathers to be replaced by the welfare state. Who needs a husband when you can get section 8, medicaid, food stamps etc. Thanks for nothing LBJ.

Oh stop being so dramatic. No one is saying this is a perfect city, but it's far from the "h*ll on earth" as you describe. Seriously, name me one big city that doesn't deal with the same problems we do.

When it comes to answering this problem, sadly there is no definitive answer. Crime is always going to happen, and it'll be especially gruesome and impersonal in a big city like Atlanta.

There are however things that can be done to improve the situation:

-Get a more effective police chief in here asap
-Better pay for cops on the force to reduce turn over
-More cops on the streets
-More cops walking the beat, instead of just patrolling neighborhoods in their car.

All of these have been made major issues by Mayor-elect Reed, and I hope he follows up on them in a serious manner.
