And it's not those sissy-baby palmetto bugs that we have here. I'm talking about those massive, Madagascar roaches that hiss at you.

Aren't the palmetto type cockroaches we have here too poisonous to eat anyway? I never see anyone on the shows where they've dared people to eat roaches actually eat the ones we have here.

Uh, maybe a trip to the moon, but I wouldn't eat a cockroach leg for a trip to Paris.

I think it's more a case of bacteria/diseases they could carry, not that their biology has poison glands anywhere. Cockroaches typically live in the walls/floor and eat garbage or waste food left around.

Now, they've said that this kind which will be consumed is safe, so they are most likely ones that have been kept in sterile environments for food (since it says this is a delicacy in asia).

My husband is coming home tomorrow from Brazil where his hotel room has been infested with these same bugs. Maybe he'll bring somen back in his luggage along with the t-shirt that says, "Someone I love went to Brazil and all I got was a few lousy Cockroaches."
