Default Nova

I reread the paragraph >>
'Together with Washington, D.C. and parts of Maryland and West Virginia, it makes up the Baltimore-Washington Metropolitan Area, the fourth-largest metropolitan area in the country.'

I would love to visit Alexandria--that's about all I know of NOVA.
Idyllic, from what I have read. My mother's friend's daughter has lived there for years--one of the nicest people one could ever want to meet. LOL--originally from Atlanta--Grady High School area. Truly a Georgia Peach.

That's outdated. The district 6 in GA isn't like that, it's like how I described it earlier. Here's an actual map of District 6:

Boring place, morally conservative, lots of bible thumpers. I lived there for a long while, can't think of anything I really miss about the place. Worst BBQ town in North Carolina. One of a few major cities without a serious Law, Medical, or Business school. On the border of ACC / SEC territory, yet no major college sports in the city itself (UNCC, har har). Not the cultural or intellectual center of NC. The Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill triangle is far more engaging of a place and compares more favorably versus Atlanta, if one had a choice of places to live.
Not sure what side of Charlotte you lived on. I keep hearing this narrative that Charlotte is redneck. I lived there for nearly 10 years, and never got that impression. Again, not sure what side of Charlotte YOU lived on, but that was not my experience. I like Charlote. A LOT, actually! I am an African-American male, and, BELIEVE this, I would not LIKE a redneck city. Sorry to hear you had such a bad experience and have gotten such a bad impression of the GREAT city of Charlotte. Not sure when the last time you were there, but it has grown a great deal. Raleigh is very nice, also.

In no way is NoVa "southern"! Might as well live in Manhattan - in fact, the people there are much nicer than the ones here.

We have lived in Vienna, Va for the past 10 years, and are - Finally! - moving back to Atlanta. Hallelujah!

There are some nice things about the area - nice parks, etc., but all the talk about the schools being so wonderful isn't really all it is cracked up to be. Everything is very regimented, and the classes are huge.

Go to Atlanta if you have a choice, and have a nice life instead of living in NoVa and spending most of your life stuck in traffic. The pressure and stress are out of control here.

Good luck, where ever you land. But NoVa is sooo not a southern city!

I think overall metro Atlanta has a much more southern feeling than No. Virginia. No. Virginia has become so much of an extension of DC and Baltimore that it felt absolutely northern when I would spend time there.
