I don't know about that. I saw more Krispy Kremes in NYC than I did in Atlanta.

And of course just outside of Hartford, I saw a Krispy Kreme.

Absolutely.

Who says Northern Virginia is even really Southern?

Says me. I am from NOVA and I consider myself Southern. However, because it has become so transient, and close to DC and the North, it is not nearly as Southern as it once was.

Northern Virginia was part of the Old South.

Here are a few pictures from Loudoun County:

Really? I didnt see many. The only place that felt Southern to me in the Atlanta area was Stone Mountain- which ironically is much like Loudoun County.

There you go with that mess again...go look at ALL those photos I posted of southern spots in Atlanta. I know you saw them - monuements, homes, buildings, battlefields, etc.

How long did you stay in Atlanta? It's not like Richmond - you can't see everything in a minute.

Oh, ok. Well I do agree that Stone Mountain is Southern. I just didnt feel very Southern in Atlanta. But coming from a city such as Richmond, thats natural. Nashville didnt feel all that Southern either.

Those pics are of NOVA btw, which I think is the gateway to the South.

May depend on your perception of southern. Southernness can be as much culture as geography, and this actually even applies to race. I have a friend who has progressively moved south from Virginia to N. Carolina, on into Atlanta, who is culturally bi-racial, and they contend that Virginia seems more progressive in some ways and areas than either of those other two areas.

Southern may mean different things to different people.
