what you want to look at is the % of free vs. paid. lunchesfor each school. Then, get online at [URL=http://www.gwinnett.k12.ga.us] there you will be able to read a report "REB" from all the schools mentioned. Next step; call the president of the HS's PTSA. Unannounced come for a visit once you are in the area . Please understand that if a school did not make AYP it is not a death sentence. last call the elected rep for each cluster. I will be looking forward to hearing from you when you call Berkmar's High School PTSA.

My pick would be Collins Hill HS going by their scores, reputation and feedback from parents with kids in there now. Not sure why they are rumored to be 'going downhill', but looks like it's still going to be a very solid choice in the future. A big part of our purchase decision was mostly because it's in that school cluster and within a relatively short drive to it.

Yeah, when you look at that list of schools in terms of demographics, test scores, percentage free lunch, they really aren't that different from each other, and are some of the best schools in Gwinnett County. Objectively, any of them should be a solid choice.

I disagree, there are big differences. Check out greatschools.net or schoolmatters.com (a division of Standard & Poors, and you can compare the schools side by side).

Are you talking about demographics or test scores, because none of the schools in the OP's list are that different demographically in that they all hover around 20% (give or take a couple of percentage points) on economically disadvantaged, at least according to the latest figures provided by greatschools.net.

Yes, they are different demographically, Mill Creek and Buford are at least. You can do a side by side comparison on schoolmatters.com of up to three schools at once. Or look them up separately on greatschools.net.
The test scores are slightly better at Collins Hill, and I have heard good things about that school, but economically disadvantaged percentage is much lower at Mill Creek than the other schools listed.
For example Mill Creek (17% ED) / Dacula HS (26% ED)/ Buford High ( 34% ED), Collins Hill (20% ED). 17% to 34% is a significant number, so yes, there are differences from that aspect.
Mountain View is too new to have any ratings so this school I don't know anything about it.
