I will be relocating with my girlfriend to the Atlanta area. We are in our 20's and I will be commuting to Conyers, Ga., but I definitely dont want to live there. I was thinking of an eastern suburb of Atlanta like Decatur. I've heard good things about that area. I currently live in an apartment community outside Columbus in Dublin, Oh. It is new and for young professionals with new appliances/burber/hardwood. There is bar and a resort style pool on the property, so I would like something comparable to that. We currently pay $800 for a 1 br/1bth. Somewhere with no crime please. Can anyone make any suggestions? Are there any suburbs nearby that I should look at.

Decatur is a good area. That'd be my first suggestion. $800 is not going to get you anything resort-like anywhere near Atlanta, so be prepared to pay a good bit more.

No crime? You're dreaming. However, the Decatur police force seems to keep things in check better than the metro area in general.

Thanks...Should of said low crime. I definitely would pay more for more. Are there any other suburbs in the East you would recommend that wouldn't be too bad of a commute to Conyers?

Decatur is probably the best one in terms of restaurants, being around other young professionals, nightlife, etc. I can't think of any other areas that I'd recommend based on your criteria.
