If you were living in NE Atlanta (say somewhere near the Duluth area) and you wanted to join a golf club (say within 40 minutes drive on the weekend) - which courses would you be looking at? Any recommendations?

I am impressed by the photo's I have seen so far. Looks very beautiful. The Cherokee Town and Country Club is private. Is it at all possible to join without knowing a member? What other clubs would be recommended?

Check out the Dunwoody Country Club. They definitely have openings for both full (golf) and social (tennis + clubhouse) members.

Dunwoody Country Club - Login

We belong and it's a great, non-stuffy, child-oriented club.

Country Club Atlanta│ Country Club North Fulton

My parents used to be members- they enjoyed it. And it did seem to be very family oriented.

What about Peachtree Golf Course right where Johnson Ferry Rd and Ashford Dunwoody Rd dead ends into Ptree Industrial, close to Ogelthorpe University? It seems like a nice course kinda hidden in the trees there.

Once you join a club, are the green fees typically free for you once you are a member?

VERY exclusive...they only allow 200 members max. "Creme de la Creme."

To me the obvious choice would be the Atlanta Athletic Club (located in Johns Creek).
