Not sure about Johns Creek but we've paid about 12/hour for a single child (baby then grew into toddler). I live in Buckhead but did not hire my nanny from a company so I'm not sure if that is the going rate for nannies from agencies. Maybe an agency that services Johns Creek could provide more information?

Also, not sure generally if that is high or low but we expected actual teaching of our child and food prep along with childcare. I think some nannies mostly just do childcare so I'm not sure in that case.

We paid $15/hr., and that was 10 years ago in Dunwoody. I think that $12 is too low. It would be difficult to find a good-quality nanny (e.g., not just a college student looking for a part-time gig) at that rate. JMHO.

I had a friend in college who did PT nanny work for 2 toddlers in Cumming for $15/hr. This was about 10 years ago.

Guess we got lucky. Our nannies have had years of experience (10 plus and 5 plus and both also have college degrees. As I mentioned, they also taught our son a full curriculum in addition to chilcare so guess it just depends. Might depend on whether you go through an agency which is going to take a cut from the hourly rate before the nanny sees it, or if you go straight to the nanny. Not sure but definitely experienced nannies for less than 15 an hour nowadays. A friend was telling me that when the market crashed there was a large number unemployed so it could have affected supply/demand and corresponding wages.

$15 is the going rate in Buckhead for nannies, I pay $20/hr to the babysitters I really love so that they will remember me with a smile when I call. Some families I know pay a salary comparable to $20/hour for full time nannies with paid sick days and vacation. Most families do not expect cleaning or laundry, but expect the house to look put-together, dishes in the dishwasher etc when they get home. I have not heard of nannies teaching a curriculum, more incidental learning, maybe some flashcards, reading to them and the like.
