We are considering a move to the area of Marietta around the Marietta Country Club. Does anyone have any insight into what that area is like for living in terms of:

1) commute to Dobbins
2) crime (is it safe to go bike riding in the area - for a female alone?)
3) schools -- how is Marietta High School viewed by the general public?
4) easy access to shopping
5) any known major roadways or other construction being planned, etc.
6) what was this area like in the bad flooding of last year -- were the roads passable or under water?

We don't have children - but are interested in knowing about school districts for resale purposes.

Thanks for your help.

So that you'll know...the Marietta Country Club neighborhood actually attends Kennesaw Mountain High School (and Hayes Elementary+Pine Mountain Middle School).

The neighborhoods very close (all of the Barrett Greens, etc.) do attend Marietta City Schools--Marietta High, Marietta Middle, Marietta 6th Grade Academy, and West Side Elementary. I'm assuming you are interested in one of these neighborhoods.

Marietta City Schools are good--especially Marietta High and West Side Elementary in the list above.

Here are some maps that may be helpful:

(Kennesaw Mountain HS, Pine Mountain MS, and Hayes ES are also good schools.)

Default Marietta: specifically around Mariett C.C.

Thanks.

Also -- if we were considering a home purchase in the Hillgrove school district vs. one in the Marietta High school district -- which would be the better area both in terms of the schools and resale potential of the home?

Good schools--especially West Side and the high school.

Marietta is safe, the schools are good and it does not and did not flood. Roads are closed from time to time but if you are just going to Dobbins, you will have no trouble. I live in Smyrna and have no trouble driving anywhere out here. Getting to Atlanta is another story though.

The Hillgrove Cluster is good as well.
