Question Radon testing in south Tucker

So, we've finally decided on one house in south Tucker. It's not too far from Idlewood Rd. and north off of 78.

Do you guys know anything about radon readings in that area? We have an inspection scheduled for Friday and I'm just trying to figure out if it's worth doing a radon test at the same time.

Oh, by the way, the house in on a slab (no basement) and I've read that those are much less likely to have radon problems.

Any input will be greatly appreciated!

Anybody?

Maybe some other surrounding areas? Do you have any experiences with radon testing/readings in Dekalb?

Thanks!

I would if I were you - what's a $175 or so compared to having the piece of mind? Also, due to Tucker's close proximity to Stone Mtn. I would say there is a decent likelihood it might have higher than normal readings.

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking, too.

On the other hand, the house is still occupied, so I can't even be sure that the reading will be reliable (the house has to be closed up for at least 12 hours before the test and then for at least 48 hours during).

Maybe you could make the sale contingent on a radon test and leave it up to the owners to have the test done (at your expense, but their inconvenience).

I think I've read that homes with crawlspaces are the most likely to have radon issues, but that could be wrong.
