Not at Perimeter, anyway. That store has been going down for a while now, imo. Bad/no service, hassles with returns, missing/invisible management, a "could give a damn" attitude with many employees, etc.

I think the decision to close that store was made many, many months ago.

It's a testiment to our market strength that it only took one day for a new anchor in Von Maur to take over that space. How often does that happen around the country when an anchor leaves a mall?

Households with low incomes would contribute to the $71k number, but not the $486k number because they will not own homes.

What, I missed this? Von Maur is replacing Bloomingdales at Perimeter?

I think the Mall management knew for a while as well. In fact, I suspect Bloomingdale's parent company had asked for a deal on the rent and was refused a while ago. (Perhaps because Von Maur was already interested.)

Some of those households probably do not need to work anymore.

In addition, Von Maur plans to expand and renovate the space.

SS rich people seem to be more subtle. I have seen far more exotic cars in John's Creek, Roswell, Alpharetta and Duluth, oh and of course Buckhead.

That Bloomingdale was the worst location I can remember. They essentially needed to fire everyone and start over w/ a new buyer first. As a joke, me and my wife put a deathclock on that location because it was never serious about wanting to succeed there. I hate to see it go but Federated completely misread the demographics of would-be shoppers there. In comparison, there are Bloomingdales in Brooklyn i'd much rather shop at than Atlanta Neiman's.

One kind suggestion on drawing people to Bloomingdales's - have the best shoe selection and be a bit more progressive with brands. Nobody wants bootcut true religions anymore and people have access to smartphones where they can clearly see the selection there is about outlet-mall quality when comparing bloomingdales in other cities.

I don't know anyone under 50 who shops at any mall departments stores anymore anyway.
