Bank of America is ok. They're outrageous on overdrafts but I don't worry about that, free with direct deposit, several locations. I'd probably say they have more locations/atms than any other bank which is probably why I stay.

However, my account is Checking only, ING has my Savings Account, Delta Credit Union has my loans (look into this when you move here, you only need $5 in a Delta Credit Union Savings account to get the benefits). They are not very convenient for Checking aka ATM's but their loans are great.

Delta Credit Union has beaten new car loans from dealers and mortgages from banks for me. I always get the lowest posted rate on their site. Delta Community Credit Union - Browser Support

You can't go wrong with ING for savings. The highest interest rates in the business, access from anywhere. I'm in the same boat, ING for savings, Washington Mutual for checking.

We chose SunTrust because of the convenient ATMs, but I've been even more impressed with the way they've handled a few issues we've had (like a stolen mail/forged check episode). They shut things down *fast* and handled everything very professionally, and I learned a lesson about How Not To Pay Bills. :-)

Absolutely true. Take into consideration how often you will actually use an ATM machine. If you end up in my shoes, I've gotten so used to using a Visa card for everything, I rarely use ATMs. Some of the smaller branches will also cover your fees at other ATMs (to a limit of course) and provide other benefits, like free checks, high interest, lower fees, cs, etc.

I'd definitely avoid Bank of America. Had a lot of problems with them in Atlanta with random maintenance fees they wouldn't fix unless you stayed on hold for hours at a time...quite common I read.
