Yes - white collar. North Atlanta. I know many people love living in Atlanta...and working there. I just wanted to make sure he wasn't getting into another Memphis situation. Although, he did not have any problems there - I spent too many hours worrying about his safety and I don't want to do that if we end up in Atlanta. Thank you for your response!

You can go to http://spotcrime.com/ga/atlanta to see the reported crimes in Atlanta and can search specific neighborhoods

And on this

I live in English Avenue aka The Bluff and really we don't have as much crime as people think. We have a lot of nice people who live over here and it is not terrifying to live here when one isn't scared of everything. I've lived here for about 3 years and have never had any issue with any crime except a man who slammed into my husbands car who was a "visitor" whom I suspect was drunk and high who drove down here from Roswell.

There are boarded up houses and vacant properties mostly as a result of "investors" who don't take care of their properties and because of foreclosures but if you look at the map and search the different neighborhoods in Atlanta, especially the recent maps we have WAY less crime compared to other areas, most notably downtown where more people go and where the majority of the crime in Atlanta takes place. We are not a nice area to look at but looks can be deceiving and though this neighborhood has had horrible drug crimes in the past it is much much better than it used to be and what a lot of people may remember and associate with our neighborhood.

@DeaconJ: Obviously warzone is an exaggerated description, however I would say it could be a warzone, considering approximately 20,000 students are anually enrolled at GT. Would you want your kid moving to this area, despite the affluence and esteem of the institution, if their chances of being robbed at gunpoint were literally quadruple that of going to a school in a less urban area? If this were happening in Athens, the community would be screaming for the city to address the problem. Atlantans, and their elected officials, however, don't seem to either a. care, b. have any vested interest or c. both. I have scratched my head numerous times over why no one seems to be doing anything about the situation.
