Default ATL vs. Kentucky

I know it's like comparing apples and oranges. There are 20% more people in metro ATL than in the entire state of KY.

Which of these places would you rather live in? I live in Kentucky, and it's my native state. Most of my family is here. However, my parents might move to a part of the state I don't want to live in when they retire. I don't have that many friends here (as people aren't that friendly.) I think it's time for a change. My first pick is Texas, but if not that, then I'll consider ATL.

The cost of living will probably shock me, I realize. But, what are some nice protestant churches you'd recommend? Suburbs? Favorite stores and restaurants? Parks and recreation opportunities? Heck, we have nightlife and entertainment in Kentucky, but what are your favorite gigs in Atlanta?

The main reasons I'm attracted to ATL: 1. gorgeous women, and so many I've met have also been friendly and chill. 2. Gorgeous scenery and mountains. 3. The "big city" feel. (Don't get me wrong, I've lived in and visited my share of large cities, but there's a special feel to ATL.) 4. The hot weather (which I like, crazy I know.)

Thanks in advance for any answers!

Ok, every city has "gorgeous women" if you look hard enough around town, and I can tell you if you're a "player" type who likes to hoop and holler at the ladies, most likely the women here will respond with a 3lb purse up beside your head or just laugh in your face. Welcome to big city women. Don't move to a city just because you like the way women look there.

A very good friend of mine is from Winchester, KY. I have to admit, the Winchester/Paris area is like a combination of The Land That Time Forgot and Deliverance all rolled up into one. I'm not sure there isn't one person in that area over the age of 5 who hasn't been to prison at least twice on drug charges. It's for real - SCARY. So if your area is anywhere like that part, then ANYWHERE is an improvement. Just keep in mind Atlanta is a *big* city compared to any other city in Kentucky, and the people drive fast, think fast, and are in a completely different frame of mind than you're probably used to. It's culture shock to the max.

The scenery and mountains are north of the city. Atlanta is mostly flat. You can move to the Northern burbs or FAR burbs and get a country feel but still be close enough to the city to make a weekend of it.

If you don't have a specific plan laid out though (job, place to live, etc) it can be rough. Don't just pack up and move on a dime. Think it out first. Atlanta isn't for everyone.
