Hi gang! The DW and I are considering a change and moving to SW Atlanta to be closer to family. My understanding is that most of the corporate type of employment in that area can be found in and around Peachtree City. Is that accurate? We'd like to live in Newna where our family is so I am wondering what the commute would be like from Newnan to Peachtree City? If I'm not mistaken it's about 10 miles away. In Orlando, where we live, 10 miles can equate to 30 - 45 minutes of commute time during the work week. Hoping that's not the same in this part of GA.

Thanks in advance for the info.
Dave

I used to live in Peachtree City (was not a fan, too many super rich people there) and would commute to college via Newnan. During rush hour it could take 30 to 40 minutes for me to get from Peachtree City to Newnan and vise versa. Granted, this was before they 4 laned the highway between them. There is a lot of growth going on west of PTC now though, so this may make the commute longer in the future.

i make the drive all the time and it takes 15-20 minutes without traffic and 30+ min with traffic. It also depends on where you live. If you live near downtown or west of Newnan (or as I like to call it "the sticks") it will take longer. If you live in the newer part of town on the eastern side your commute will be shorter.

I live in SummerGrove on the east side of Newnan I guess and if you take Lower Fayetteville as far as it goes and get on the 4 lane 54 at Fischer all the way to PTC. Sounds complicated but it isn't. Takes 15 minutes or just a little longer if that much with traffic. NO PROBLEMS with commuting.

Depending upon how far out you are, the commute could be as simple as 10 minutes. Also, you could look into areas like Sharpsburg, Senoia, etc. The housing will be closer, most likely, to PTC and still affordable. We just moved from Senoia and have a house still for sale.
