Does anyone have any idea what the property taxes run in peachtree city and Fayetteville? All I seen posted was the price of the homes? I need property tax info. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I am sure if you Google it you could find out. Another way is to use Find Your Home Value, House Values and Prices on Yahoo! Real Estate and put in a home address in the area. They tell you the property tax paid last year on all homes.

When home prices were going up, property taxes went up. Now that they have gone down there is absolutely no talk of taxes coming back down.

I am for a flat sales tax,

I just read an article this morning about PTC thinking about raising property taxes 37% over the next years. I don't know the difference in rates between PTC and Fayette County, but it was substantial when we were looking for houses there.

Candy007,

The tax rate is 31.324 in Peachtree City and 29.178 in Fayetteville.

"The tax rate, or millage rate, in each county is set annually by the Board of County Commissioners or other governing authority of the taxing jurisdiction, and by the Board of Education. A tax rate of one mill represents a tax liability of one dollar per $1,000 of assessed value. The average county and municipal millage is 30 mills; the state millage rate in each county is 0.25 mills. Municipalities also assess property based upon county-assessed values and rates established by the municipal governing authority.
The assessed value--40 percent of the fair market value--of a house that is worth $100,000 is $40,000. The assessed value is then multiplied by the millage rate to equal the taxes due."

So, the property taxes on a home valued at $100,000 would be $1,253 in Peachtree City and $1,167 in Fayetteville.

Right now the state budget picture is looking very bad and big cuts in education are rumored. It's possible that either that low tax rate will increase, or your children, if you have any, will be attending a jaw-dropping cheap school.
