This race is cursed with the worst weather! The first year that they had it (2007) the high was in the 80s (HOT for marathon weather!!) and there wasn't enough water on the course. The subsequent years have been COLD and rainy or COLD and windy. This year - a week from tomorrow - is supposed to be a high of 59 (great running temp) and a low of 36 (start line temp - brrrr) but, with rain. Really - rain??? Ugh - where is the "normal" Atlanta spring weather when you need it?

The problem is holding it in March. They need to move it to April. The weather in March is never stable in Atlanta. But April is gorgeous. I ran the half last year and, like you said, it was so cold that when I finished the race I just went home. No after partying. This year I trained for a full, but I'll miss the ING because I'll be traveling for work. So I am running the Country Music Marathon in Nashville on April 24, which I've heard has a great after race party. And it's in April so it should be so great.

Best of luck in the ING this year!

Don't let things out of your control cause you stress or anxiety...it will be negative for your race. Just relax and view it as an "out" for a slow time and taking it easy, you might be surprised with how this will translate into your results. Every PR I've set for every distance was in less than ideal conditions, mostly because I wasn't stressed out about performing, instead I just enjoyed it and let the race come to me. Good luck!
