Having lived in both places..I hear that the traffic is a nightmare down in GA.

But for those of us who are used to Nightmare traffic..how bad does it compare? We may in the next year be thinking of alpharetta I guess (seems that is where the newbs go)..Job relo is up in the air..could be in downtown ATL or Alpharetta itself (which would be cool).

But really..how bad is it from an everyday standpoint, from someone who is used to driving 30 minutes to get anywhere to career wise, used to either sitting on a train for over an hour or driving 1.5 hours.

Just curious on some experiences. TIA

Default no big deal

it won't be any big deal. Alpharetta used to be a nightmare, but they recently widened GA-400 and it helped tremendously even with roads like Windward Pkwy and Old Milton.

Alpharetta used to be much, worse because GA-400 was only 4 lanes thru much of it. It used to get fairly slow even during lunch hour. But now they widened that section to 8 lanes (4 each), and it's had a big impact on the arterials. The main issue around here is the almost complete lack of good arterials, so you have limited options. They all dumped onto 400, and since it was at a deadlock, they backed up.

I went to a friend's house in Cumming Friday evening. I was on 400 northbound and doing the speed limit @ 7:00pm. I have done that before (and in fact used to live off exit 11), and @ 7:00pm pre-widening, you could jog it faster.
